Industry veteran with 20+ years of experience.

Trained as an actor, Kate soon moved into directing theatre and opera and now works across the disciplines of television, video games, VR, film and theatre. Known for excellently productive relationships with actors and a keen eye on text. 3 actors have won BAFTAs for their work in video games directed by Kate. She brings clarity of vision, confidence and energy to productions.

VIDEO GAMES

As a Lead Performance, Cinematic and Voice Director for Video Games, Kate has directed many awarded games and has spent the last 2 years directing Resident Evil: Requiem. Kate was entirely responsible for casting the new roles for the franchise, directing all performance capture shoots and all voice in the game. (Bar the zombie grunts!)

Other highlights across 20 years include directing Battlefield 6, 2025 triple BAFTA winner Still Wakes The Deep, twice BAFTA nominated Mafia III; 2016 triple BAFTA winner Everybody’s Gone To The Rapture; and 2015 BAFTA winner Alien: Isolation. Kate was Lead Voice Director on Witcher 2 and 3, the latter being the 2015 winner of The Game Award for Game of the Year and on Fable 2 and 3.

FILM & TV 

For TV, Kate directed Grace series 4 (Love You Dead) for ITV, which aired in September 2024. Prior to this, Kate directed the final ever episode of Endeavour, titled Exeunt (for series 9), which aired on ITV in March 2023. The Guardian described the episode as: “a perfect end to one of the classiest vehicles in TV crime drama”.

Other TV productions include: Grace (Dead Tomorrow) (ITV 2021); Terminus, Endeavour series 8 (ITV 2021); Zenana, Endeavour series 7 (ITV 2020); episodes 5 & 6 of Silent Witness series 23, (BBC1 2020) and Call The Midwife, Casualty, Eastenders and Doctors (BBC). Kate is currently in pre-production for a new feature film, To The River. Kate was Voice Director on Paramount’s Feature, Capture The Flag, which won the Goya Award for Best Animated Film 2016. 

Kate is often called upon to direct A-list actors, having notably worked with Michael Fassbender, Naomie Harris, Patrick Stewart, Forest Whitaker, Daisy Ridley, Ben Kingsley, John Cleese, Simon Pegg, Jason Isaacs and Judi Dench.Kate is also an established director of TV drama and theatre

THEATRE 

Having directed over 35 theatre productions, and several operas, personal highlights include working with John Fowles on the world premiere of The French Lieutenant’s Woman; Tom Stoppard on The Real Thing; Heather Raffo, developing Nine Parts of Desire with The Public in New York and La bohème for Opera North. Kate was Chair of Stage Directors UK from its inception (2014) until 2020. AUDIO DRAMA Kate directed Hell Cats I & II, original dramas, for Audible, starring Jonathan Bailey and Erin Doherty. 

APPEARANCES 

Kate has twice been interviewed on stage at BAFTA, where her work directing the shoot for Alien: Isolation has also featured in a photography exhibition celebrating female BAFTA winners. Kate has spoken on a cross-genre TV/games panel at the BFI, been interviewed for various newspapers, podcasts and magazines, for BBC Radio 2, was a Keynote speaker at 2023’s One Voice conference, and mentors directors.
